China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 762.HK) subsidiary Fuzhou Unicom is cooperating with local job hunting agencies to set up an SMS job hunting platform for migrant workers, reports People's Post and Telecommunications News.
Migrant workers can find short term jobs by sending an SMS to the platform. Each inquiry costs 0.2 Yuan and a monthly unlimited use package is available for 2 Yuan per month. A trial platform was launched in the small towns of Jinan and Changshang in Fuzhou on May 1. The trial was used by 405 migrant workers, of which 71 subscribed to the monthly plan. Chinese online recruitment firm 51Job (Nasdaq: JOBS) offers a similar service, but charges 5 Yuan a month for regular positions and 20 Yuan a month for senior positions.
